I have on occasion come across albums and odd photos showing groups of UK servicemen touring the USA or Canada (one was a Royal Artillery unit doing a demo tour around US states of the latest cannon!) and wondered what it must have been like as a release from “normal” service life.
I have just purchased a large photo album for the RAF Bands tour of Canada in 1928. This, it seems, was a three-month tour across the whole of Canada. The many photos show the musicians, concerts and the places they visited (Kamloops, Lethbridge, New Westminster, along with the larger cities) and on several they are seen sharing centre stage with Native Americans, though why that is, I do not know.
There are also lots of nice little photos showing street scenes/views of the 1920s and I have added a few photos below to give an idea of what a nice album this is (very heavy at nearly 3kg and with around 450 photos!). It is not a cheap item but a very scarce one and available in Reynard Collectables ebay store here.
