I am sure some people will remember from hotel rooms of old, the Corby trouser press (or even have one in their bedroom to this day!). But has anybody ever seen a bakelite Corby Tie Press? About the size of a small toaster in dark red bakelite, you feed your tie in the slot at the front using a wheel on the side, and presumably in the morning use the release catch on top and out comes a nicely pressed tie!
The only link between this and Pinky and Perky (a 45 rpm disc) is they are both included in a very large (13.5kg) mixed box of assorted items and ephemera I have for sale in my ebay store here.
As well as these there are items as diverse as a Celtic v Rangers football programme/ticket with an autograph from Stevie Chalmers (one of the Celtic Lisbon Lions European Cup winning team of 1967), a flour sack from Hayle, Cornwall, a vintage Okorena (small clay flute like instrument from Austria), Egyptian Oil Co. share certificate, 1966 World Cup Final Super 8mm Official film by Walton, 1915 handmade wooden picture frames (WWI trench art possibly), glass plate negatives of the Queen Mother visiting Wye College, The Isis magazine, 1930s US Police Gazette’s, 1950s Addis advertising pack of dolls house brushes etc (superb this item!) , RAF/US Govt. maps, Crosby & Sinatra music sheets, photos, postcards and much much more!
Unfortunately due to the weight of this lot really only suitable for sending to the UK, but still worth looking just for the interesting items shown in the scans below. Lots of these items could be resold, just that I am trying to cut down on the 100s of miscellaneous items in my stock. Much better than a basic clear out lot, there are lots of items £10-20 values.
