How about being a bit different this year and sending somebody special a real 19th century Victorian Christmas or New Year card? I have a collection of these for sale in my Reynard Collectables ebay store and there are over 70 of them, to cover most tastes.
The collection is for sale as one lot, which is how it came to me, and it seems to have been collected by one woman in the 1870/80s as a lot of the cards have messages to “Etta”.
Although most are used and have some mounting marks to the reverse, the main pictures on most are very attractive and unaffected. There are a variety of images, from foxhunting, Father Christmas, mistletoe, snow scenes, children, lovely embossed dog cards as well as a few very delicate religious cards with ornate pierced edging. Quite a few Raphael Tuck cards in here as well as Hildesheimer, various chromo-lithographed images etc.
